Ayurvedic Treatments for Eye
There are 5 main treatment focusing solely on netra vikaras /eye d iseases i.e ashchotanam,anjanam,seka,tarpanam and putapakam
Ashchotanam
It is the process of dripping medicated oil/decoction/ghee into the eye It is advised for redness, itching and puffiness of eye,stye,blepheritis etc It cleanses the eye and relaxes it
Anjanam
It is the process of applying prescribed medicine in the water line of both upper an lower lid, it is mainly used for cleanses the eye improve eye sight,stye , blepheritis etc.
Tharpanam
In it medicated oil/ghee is retained over the eyes for a period of 15-30min.It is advised for long sightedness, short sightedness, cataract, retinopathy, nervous disorders of eye, ptosis etc.It improves eyesight, strengthens muscles and nervous functions of eye.
Putapakam
This is the process of retaining mamsa rasa over the eyes.It gives nourishment to the eye and is usually advised after tharpanam and as a rejuvenation for tired eyes. It restores the strength of the eye and its muscles.
